Performing with Lucia and Valdemar is invited special guest Flamenco singer / guitarist Salvadora Galan. Originally from Spain, Ms. Galan will bring her unique style that will ignite Alma y Fuego as a must see concert for Flamenco aficionados.

"Growin up in Spain" according to Ms. Galan, "Flamenco singing was a way of life in my family as my father and brother were also singers. I later sang in many tablaos in Madrid including Las Brujas. I also performed with many other flamenco personalities such as Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera, Dolores Vargas, Diego Carrasco and in the US with Maria Benitez, Susana de Palma and Jose Molina".

Lucia Rodriguez-Sanchez and Valdemar Phoenix have been performing together with their group Gitanerías Flamenco since 1983. Their work, firmly based in the essence of traditional flamenco, also reflects a contemporary approach to the art.

Layla s journey:

In August Layla was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Neuroblastoma Stage III High Risk. High Risk is due to the rapid way the cells are dividing.

Her treatment over the past five months consists of, four rounds of chemo to help shrink the tumor that consumed her abdomen, finally on November 6th a much awaited nine hour surgery to remove the tumor, then stem cell transplant and numerous hospital visits for infections, blood transfusions etc .Layla is now undergoing aggressive doses of chemo and radiation to basically kill the cancer cells, then a stem cell rescue.

This two year old little girl, who spent her holidays in the hospital, still manages to put on a smiley face when entering Texas Children s for treatment every morning! Amazing!
