We tie yellow ribbons hoping - praying they ll come home safely, but according to statistics, at least one soldier s life has been lost every day since the start of the Iraqi War. War is difficult to understand, but we all have to agree, our most precious assets, our young men and women, are being lost in battles on a faraway land. They are someone s fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandchildren My installation is dedicated to them, these courageous men and women who have lost their lives while fighting in the Iraqi War.

Photos show one sense. One of the five senses. Some like author Victor Villaseñor say there are thirteen. Sounds and smells are easy to fill in. The other senses must be felt or tasted.
If one picture, as is said, is worth a thousand words, how many can four dozen images stir up? The answer melts away like wet sand through a child s hands. And there are probably more than 13 senses, especially in a copal incense soaked Oaxaca.

She started playing music at the age of 8, when her parents first sent her to piano lessons. Since then, music grew to be her passion, eventually leading her to become a vocal artist and songwriter. Before her solo career, she collaborated with a few bands in Tijuana, and then later in Mexico D.F. Her first album, Aqui, emerged in 1998 with the collaboration of Gustavo Santaolalla. The appearance of this album initiated her first experience with the many facets of the music industry, some of which included recording, touring, and playing live while a mass of people sang-along to her songs for the first time. In 2000, she recorded her second album, Bueninvento, where she experimented with the electric guitar, and cooperated with producers and musicians: (Gustavo Santaolalla, Meme de Real, Quique Rangel, Toy Hernandez, Joe Chiccarelli and other great musicians.) In 2003 she made her third album, Si, which she recorded and produced between Buenos Aires and Madrid with the company of Cachorro Lopez and Coti Sorokin. In 2006, her 4th album, Limon y Sal, debuted with the help of producer Cachorro. In 2007, she collaborated with Miranda! to make Perfecta, which in 2008 became a chart-topping single in Latin America. In 2008 she made her MTV Unplugged, from which she has released one video, titled 'El Presente'. |

Join us for a day of free family fun at the Día de Ia Comunidad de Target at Talento Bilingüe de Houston on November 22nd, 2008 from 11am 4 pm. Enjoy music, theatre, delicious food, hands-on art activities and more as we celebrate Latino heritage.
We are so honored that Target continues to work with us as partners in celebrating the Latino arts according to Jorge Piña, artistic director of Talento Bilingue de Houston. Last year Target funded our 30 year anniversary celebrations and this year we are presenting something very special called Dia de la Comunidad de Target. This festival created for the community will present Tejano/rock bands at the Guadalupe Plaza, Folklorico dance and children theatre companies on the TBH main stage, food booths, community information booths and interactive craft arts for children in the parking lot. The best part of this festival is that the community will have an opportunity to visit the renovated gallery and theatre space, walk into the new dance studio and check out the new and much improved parking lot, said Jorge Piña. |

The Houston’s Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1949, when Santa arrived at Union Station and rode his sleigh to the downtown Foley's. That led to a 44-year tradition – the Foley's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In later years, Bank United and Washington Mutual each claimed the title sponsorship. In 2006, H-E-B was named the new title sponsor of the parade. The Parade also received a new look and logo, and is now referred to as the H-E-B Holiday Parade. |
